Tombola Bingo 90
Blocks is a 60 ball bingo game that combines bingo with a bejeweled/gems/blocks game. At first glance it's a little bit confusing as it's not totally clear how you play. However, like a lot of bingo games, it's a case of sit back and watch the number whilst the computer tells you if you're winning or not.
Playing Blocks
The game is played on a 6x6 grid made up of 36 different coloured blocks. Each colour has 6 numbers. A good way to consider the game is that you have 6 bingo tickets - one for each colour. These tickets are entwined within the grid.
The aim of the game is to clear six numbers of the same colour and therefore win the 'full house'. If you clear the six blue, red, green, yellow, pink or purple blocks on a ticket before your fellow roomies then you'll collect the full house prize. By the way there's also a jackpot prize that's awarded if house is called in 10 calls or less. The amount of the jackpot changes after 8 calls.
However, there's another element to the game. Before the numbers start to be called you're assigned a score. Points are awarded for two or more blocks of the same colour that are touching. As the numbers are called the blocks explode and the remaining blocks move down the grid. This creates more touching colours and therefore adds more points to your score.
Win Up To £20,000
Points continue to be scored until the full house is called. At that point the player(s) with the most points collect the score pot prize. This is usually around a third or quarter of the main prize. When we played Blocks it was evident that scores of 500 or more were required to win the pot. A good starting score is beneficial to success!
It's possible to win up to £20,000 playing Blocks. However you'll need to be playing for £2 a ticket and call house in under 8 calls. If £2 a ticket is too much then it's possible to buy-in and play at just 10p, 25p, 50p or £1. Tombola currently have four rooms open to players wanting to try the game.
A Good Game?
Tombola Bingo 60th
Blocks is a welcome new addition to the bingo world. It is most certainly one of the most innovative games for a long time. However there are a few issues. Firstly it's not totally clear how to play - once you get it then it makes sense - but initially it's quite confusing. Some players think they need to clear a line to win as opposed to clear six numbers of the same colour. Tombola need to make this more obvious and they also don't make the score or TG countdown clearer.
Winning isn't easy and this could be the Achilles' heel of the game. As much as Blocks intrigued us, not getting any money back over multiple plays soon had us switching off. We wonder whether in time other Tombola roomies will feel the same. That said, this is something that's genuinely new to the bingo world - and for that Tombola deserve a lot of credit.
If you fancy trying Blocks then head over to Tombola. Our advice would be to initially play for 10p a ticket to see if you like the game. Then return to it in a few weeks when the novelty factor has worn off and there are less roomies to compete with!
